形態特徵

• Shrubs or trees, 2-15 m tall. Young branchlets 1.5-3 mm in diam.
• Leaves alternate, subopposite or aggregate; petioles 8-17 mm long; lamina narrowly elliptic, lanceolate or obovate-elliptic, 6-12 cm long, 2-4.5 cm broad, coriaceous or thin-coriaceous, base cuneate, margin slightly recurved, apex acuminate, costa impressed on upper surface, ca. 1 mm wide, prominent on lower surface, secondary nerves 5-8 per side.
• Flower buds sphaeroid; flowers axillary or subterminal, solitary or fascicled. Perianth segments 14-21, reddish, obovate or orbicular, concave, carnose. Stamens 30-41, 3-seriate, connective truncate to emarginete. Carpels 12-14, 2.2-3.8 mm long; stigma 1-2 mm long.
• Fruit 3-4 cm in diam.; pedicel 15-30 mm long, 1.5-2 mm in diam.; follicles 12-14, apex rostrate, rostrum 3-5 mm long.Seeds yellowish, 6-9 mm long.
